Frontenac Coulee
11 1/2 " x 18" plus floater frame
Painted on a deck overlooking a deep coulee
at Villa Maria, a retreat center in Frontenac, MN
It was a cool damp day and we painted with gloves
with the finger tips open. It was actually sleeting.

Silver Birch Park_Summer 09
16" x 16"
I've been drawn to this little lake near my home. I used some
of the principles taught by Andrew Wykes. If you look close, you
can see some of the lines inscribed into the half finished painted to
give myself a better idea of the relationship between shapes within the
painting.

Arkansaw Creek, Summer 2009 SOLD
13 1/2" x 18" plus 3+ inch rustic dark burl frame
This painting done in the quiet creek that trickles through our
little village of Arkansaw, WI. The sandstone walls and the light
coming through the trees were the interest and challenge.
The irony in this subject is that the quiet creek, three weeks later,
turned into a raging flash flood when our area was deluged with 9
inches of rain in three hours. The creek went from one foot deep
to fifteen feet deep that night! The bridge in the painting was
taken out by the flood.
